next practice will be on wednesday, 11 Jan 2012, 2.30 pm. we will be having our first Chinese New Year practice. the songs we will be doing (with CO) will be 大地回春 and 拜年. EDIT: PLS BRING $10 FOR THE VOCAL CONSORT CONCERT ON WEDNESDAY.

on friday, 13 Jan, we will have prac at 2pm. if CO has practice on that day, we will combine with them in the CO room.

there will be usual practice on sat, timing to be informed.

CNY rehearsal dates are to be informed, but tentatively it is next mon, 16 Jan, and thurs, 19 Jan. The actual performance is on fri, 20 Jan.

on another note, the new sec 1s will join us after the CNY performance, tentatively on 27 Jan. set a good example for the new juniors when they come in, ok? :)

2. Those who took photos during the Malaysia trip please kindly send your photos to Jeff. His email is: jeffjeffneoneo@yahoo.com.sg I know many of you took photos so please don't be lazy to send them to Jeff.

3. Those assigned to do the write-up of the entire trip please get it done and send it to Miss Lau at lau_hui_bian@moe.edu.sg. Those on coach B (group 5-8) are to submit your reflections (last 2 pages of your tour handbook) to your group leaders by next saturday, 17 Dec 2011.

4. The next event will be the Sec 1 orientation on 29th Dec 2011. Please assemble outside the music room by 9am. The attire will be school uniform and school tie. Sec 1s and 2s can wear your kaki shorts. Sec3s wear long pants. We will be singing You Raise me up and Little David.

5. If you have friends who didn't turn up today, please remind them to turn up as there's only 2 more practices till Sec 1 orientation.

6. When school term starts, choir practices will resume immediately and will be fixed on Fridays and Staurdays.

On another note, those 20 people selected for the national day celebration on Monday please please go watch the music videos, especially those who were absent today. the songs are HOME, COUNT ON ME SINGAPORE AND IN A HEARTBEAT. Make sure you know the song well. There will be a song sheet given to us on the day so you don't have to worry about the lyrics. wear a red shirt on Monday. That's all.

EDIT: For the twenty people performing, wear your red shirt to morning assembly. Morning assembly will roughly end at 8 after the national day message etc. Do not return to class, proceed straight away to the hall and gather at the back stage.

Hello guys. Next prac will be this Wednesday at 2.45 pm. Please be outside the music room and don't be late. This is because Victoria Challenge will take place this friday. If you have any classmates that have not been coming for choir pracs please inform them to turn up. Mitchell Yap posted this on the T2s facebook page but i feel that it concerns everyone so i shall post it here:

"1. When Wen Yu & Joel Tay are talking in combines, when the SLs are saying something about the song concerning your part, please write it down. This will help you remember the point so we won't sound like a bunch of broken recorders.
2. Don't look at the door. When you guys are practicing in combines, focus on Wen Yu and Joel Tay. This is basic discipline and we used to get pumped for this. Note the words "used to" and don't make us start.
3. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart and don't lean on one leg. This is also basic, but sometimes I see people leaning on one leg and such. This is about common sense guys, standing on 2 legs is easier than standing on 1 (unless you are a flamingo).
4. Please take care of yourselves. Some of the seniors (including me) are falling sick, so drink more water and sleep earlier. Mind you, it might have something to do with O Level MT orals coming up but this is still important. It sucks and hurts to sing on a sore throat.
5. Find your Sls yourself if you think you need voice classes (or are just bored during weekends). Text them or tell them at a random prac if you want to and they will plan it out for you.
6. Improvement in discipline, but room for more."

Hi guys, please be outside the music room by 8.50am on this coming Monday. Bring along your black file with the 3 scores filed inside, arranged for ease of flipping. Attire will be school uniform, no tie is required.

Also, please bring along your $11 for the vjchoir concert if you haven't pay. The original price is $21 and we are subsidizing $10 so you guys shall only have to pay $11.

Lastly, revise the 3 songs and do not be late on the actual day. Thanks.

Your SLs would probably have informed you by now that next practice for Sec1s, 2s and 3s is this Saturday, 14 May. Practice starts at 9am.

Please be reminded that we are only left with this one practice before our performance on Monday (16 May).

Hey choir,

Please have a good rest, drink lots of water, sleep early,... (you know how it goes!)

Make sure that you warm up your body with some stretches as well as some physical movement (eg. jumping jacks) before you come to sch.

Be at the music room tmr by 8.30am, in your penguin suit (minus vest and tie). For those who left their clothes in the music room, please be there earlier, change, and be ready by 8.30am as well.

Do be reminded that we ALL have to return to VS by bus after our performance. Results will be announced at SOTA hall at 5.30pm if you would like to be there.

For juniors, especially sec 1's, this might be your first time performing. Dont be afraid, just sing your hearts out. As you will know that you have done your very best and wont let vs choir down. Its the final 2 weeks to SYF, keep up the good work and try to improve even more. Dont forget the basic techniques such as dropping your jaw, the different supports, dynamics etc etc as they are really important. Put in your best effort and show what VS Choir is made of :)

Hi guys, next practice will be tomorrow, saturday. Please be outside the music room by 8am and for comm members 7.30am.
There will be a workshop at TKSS, comprising the same schools that came that day. You will be dismissed from TKSS, but if you choose to, there is a bus chartered to send you back to VS. For all those who missed the chinese workshop, there will be a makeup in the afternoon which is COMPULSORY.
Our progress these two weeks have been great, showing that we do have the capability to sing, its whether we want to. Much of us are singing out more already, but I believe that we can definitely do better. Remember, everyone's 100% effort is what we need, not any lesser than that. Get focused at the very first try and give your all each time we sing. Do keep the strong desire for singing going and remember to practise the techniques such as support at home. Also, please take care of your throats as again, its our responsibilty as a singer to take care of our throats.
Last message, DO NOT BE COMPLACENT, as we still have much more areas that we can work on. Thanks.

There will be reauditions for SYF team after the workshop tomorrow. It's unavoidable that there will defenitely be people getting kicked out. It's up to you to decide whether you want to be the one or not.

Memorise all 3 syf pieces by next friday, inclusive of dynamics as well. Do continue putting in effort in your singing, and also your focus, which is very much important.
As for non-syf members, practice for you guys will resume after syf. Do not be disheartened and continue to improve your singing. There will definitely be much more performing chances to come.

A gentle reminder that if you are unable to make it for choir, it has to be a valid reason. Project work etc are NOT valid. MCs, extra lessons are valid. However, SYF takes priority over extra lessons so you are excused from them.
If you are sick but still come for school, you can sit behind and listen.
Mr Kwei's 3 lifelines include valid reasons e.g. sickness so please come for all practices as it's very important.

The Midis/Pronunciations are at the right side, below committee 10/11.

Congrats to all those who made it to the syf team after the auditions today! For those who didn't make it, don't fret. There will be a second audition tomorrow for those who didn't make it today, and for those who didn't turn up today (with a valid reason).

From today's auditions, i can infer that Mr Kwei is looking out more for projection/resonance and tone, amongst other things. If you need help, go and listen to the midi for The Wind (30 jan post, scroll down). If you have problems with other techniques, try calling your SLs for verbal advice?

Don't ask your SLs if Mr Kwei is going to test the same thing as today, or if they know what is going to be tested, because they don't know.

For those who are auditioning tomorrow, good luck. :)
